EX BREEDING BITCHES
Puppy Farming is cruel - there is no other word for it. Puppy farm bitches have a horrific and traumatic time as they are usually bred from every time they have a season. Even if the bitch is ill they still continue to breed from them and don't get them medical treatment. They are treated appallingly just for profit. They live in squalid conditions with little or no human contact. They are kept there until they no longer serve a purpose and are then disposed of. For more information about puppy farms please go to Hope-UK's educational website.
Ziggy is a 6 year old
Bichon from a breeding kennels. She is at the moment a little nervous and
hasn't shown much of herself. She is used to being let out of her kennel
to sniff around and exercise and has loved her owners and the life they've
given her. Ziggy has very long legs so is a bit bigger than the average
bischon. She isn't housetrained or used to pet life and will need another
dog to show her the ropes but she should learn quickly.
Flutter really could not flutter as she is rather chubby, (in fact very).
She is a beautiful Bichon 2½ year old ex breeding bitch. She loves the
company of another dog, and will need lessons to walk on a lead and live in
a home.
FIDDLE - 16 WEEK OLD MALE FIDDLE CANNOT BE REHOMED JUST YET (read update for more information)
Fiddle is a 16 week old Bichon pup. He was not sold so given to us to find a home for. He is very charming.
Update 26.08.08 - Fiddle is the most beautiful little puppy one could wish for, he is totally adorable in everyway and gives such lovely little kisses. He is almost there with his housetraining which is truly amazing considering his state of health at times. We wish the best chance there is for Fiddle as he is just starting out in life with all of our help he can live a normal happy full term life just like any other normal puppy.
Update 29.08.08 - We have had the results back from Fiddle's bile acid test. The tests show that he needs an operation ASAP as his results are extremely high. 226 pre-prandial and 336 post when they should be down in the 10 range. The Bute Cross have very kindly offered to do the operation for Fiddle by donation only which is really good news and we are extremely grateful to them for their help.
When we spoke to our vet
initially about Fiddle, she had said that if the test results came back
positive she could refer him to Liverpool Hospital. She tentatively enquired
if we had insurance cover for Fiddle. The answer was no so she advised it
would cost anything between £2000 to £2500. We decided to put out an appeal
for a vet to come forward to help save Fiddle. Within a few hours The Blue Cross called Many Tears to speak to Sylvia and we now have Fiddle booked in to the hospital in London on Tuesday next week. Fiddle will have tests and be under observation until the following Monday when he will have his operation. He will stay with the vets at the hospital for a further week to be observed and monitored. He will then be returning to N Wales until adopted.
Update 03.09.08 - Fiddle, was today taken to the Blue Cross Hospital in Victoria London. He is pictured above with Kim his Veterinary Nurse, who spotted our appeal on the MT website and persuaded Jess the Chief Surgeon, on the right, to take on his case. We were worried about his journey down and he was agitated to start with and then slept the whole way there and I had to wake him for his examination.
Please spare thought for our
little Fiddle and hope he will be strong enough to cope with the extra blood
flow through his liver. He will remain on his special diet for a further 6
months and providing everything is good he will finally be able to enjoy all
the treats a normal dog does.
22.07.08 - Foster Update
Piccolo and Poco are the tiniest sweetest little dogs I have ever seen. We picked them up yesterday at lunchtime and in the 30 hrs they have been with us they have blossomed and bloomed.
Piccolo seems to be experiencing problems with her back legs, so we will watch her for a few days then if no improvement is seen she will have x-rays taken. Saying that we have seen a slight improvement today as she has been a busy little bee playing with all her new friends. She is as cute as a button and as sweet as fudge. She would be more than happy simply to sit on your knee from morning till night as she loves her cuddles and kisses.
Update 01.09.08 - What a pretty
little girl Piccolo is. She is so very very sweet and sits nicely in her
little doggie bag when the walk gets too much for her (she only has tiny
little legs). She loves to be the centre of attention and has to be closest
to me at all times. She snuggles up as close as she can and stares at me.
She would, I believe, be best homed as an only dog as she does attach
herself and enjoys my full attention.
Piccolo is 90% housetrained
though will use the emergency newspaper if she can't get to the door in
time. She has an enormous appetite for such a tiny dog and will do anything
for a treat. She is not in the last bit shy or coy. She will howl at
the top of her lungs if she can't see me and she knows I am in the house so
she gets carried around a lot of the time.
All in all she is a beautiful
little dog who will love you as much as she possibly can. Piccolo
needs a home where she will be spoilt and cosseted with someone there all
day as she frets when left alone.
Piccolo was handed in to
Many Tears Animal Rescue as she was too
small to be bred from so was not needed.
PHOEBE - 5 YEAR OLD FEMALE (New Photograph)
Little Phoebe is an ex-puppy farm bitch who is looking for love and someone to give her the time to get use to real life. She is a quiet little girl who is now getting very used to cuddles. Phoebe wasn't very well when she was released from the puppy farm but with Pro Dogs dedication she is now doing well. She does have a heart problem and will not be rehomed to anyone with children or busy lives. She deserves to get lots of attention and pampering.
PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding dogs are normally best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps those who have never been walked on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience.
If you are interested in Phoebe please contact the person named on the link for more information. If your details are suitable for the requirements of the dog, they will arrange a homecheck for the dogs security. If this is passed they will make arrangements for you to meet the dog and hopefully rehome him or her. A donation of £150 per dog applies. This helps with neutering, vaccinations, flea/worm treatments and microchipping where necessary. They have a legally binding Adoption Contract which you are asked to read and sign and everything known about the dog will be given to you. You will also get four weeks free insurance cover on receipt of adoption form.

22.07.08 - Foster Update
Poco and Picola are the tiniest sweetest little dogs I have ever seen. We picked them up yesterday at lunchtime and in the 30 hrs they have been with us they have blossomed and bloomed.
They are both beautiful, sweet, intelligent and simply to die for.
Poco is a tiny Bichon.
She is about 7 months old and nearly blind. She had terrible infection
in her eyes and once cleaned up it is apparent one eye is nearly blind the
other has an ulcer. At present she has very little sight at all.
We are hoping some of it will be restored but we are not sure.
ELLIE-MAE - 5 YEAR OLD FEMALE (NEW PHOTOGRAPHS)
Ellie-Mae is a good natured, friendly girl, aged about 5 years and is an ex-breeding bitch. She is currently being looked after by Pro Dogs Direct.
She has surprised us by just how quickly she has turned around; she is walking on a lead, asking to go outside and is happily sleeping on her foster mum's bed. This is quite unusual for these girls as they are just not used to being in a home.
Ellie-Mae was obviously born to be a lap dog, it has just taken her a while to get there. She is a very sweet natured lady who gets on well with other dogs. She will need a home with another dog to continue to help her learn how to be a pet and an owner who is around for most of the day. Ellie-Mae would probably be better in an adult only home as she is still adjusting to her new life. She will make a great companion for somebody.
PLEASE NOTE: Ex-breeding bitches are are best homed with another dog as they have usually never lived in a house before. They are used to living with other dogs and learn faster with another to copy from. This also helps those who have never been walked on a lead.
